And blueberry pancakes for all

So in my last post I mentioned how we were getting induced on 9/6 at noon and how great that was because it took the guesswork out of everything...Well lest life get boring that plan went out the window somewhere around 5AM on 9/6 when I woke up with pain (now I never notice contractions with the pain, same with Nicholas just pain) so I took a shower, I took a bath....then I woke Mike up with a real sense of urgency that if we didn't move quick my pain control options would be limited.
I called our wonderful neighbor Prudence who sped over to watch Nicholas until family could fill in and then with some delays, i.e. Mike making the bed, mike getting his coffee, I am surprised he didn't do a load of laundry...we sped off to the hospital.
Once we got there I threw up and begged the nurses not to send me home until noon, they of course did not because I was in labor...
so the routine goes like this the doctor hooks up the internal monitor, they draw some blood, give you the IV and then you wait for the labor and delivery God to show up (otherwise known as the anthesiologist) who gives you the epidural. He showed up pretty quickly in my case and started going over the speil, you could get a hematoma and be paralyzed etc. etc. for a fleeting moment I thought the hell with taking the chances I will skip, but then pain reminds me what the hell do you have to lose.
So he hooked me up with the need in my spine and then I relaxed for a few hours, after pushing for about 20 minutes and then being told "stop stop you have to wait for the doctor" too late I can't wait, but the Dr. showed up in the nick of time and little Maria Eleni was born was 11:50AM on 9/6/06, she weighed a whopping 8 pounds and 10 oz. and was 19" long, Mike was by side the entire time, and my sister made it for the finale.
Maria is healthy and there are no issues with bilirubin as we had with Nicholas. We are home now, and you may be wondering why the post is called blueberry pancakes for all - well I guess it is an inside joke with the seemingly 20 people in the room after Maria was born. Let's just say my doctor who is an excellent physician has a sick sense of humor!!
You can see some pictures of Maria at this link.

Congratulations on your beautiful baby girl! I'm sure it was better going into labor on your own, that way you know you were "really" ready! I'm so glad things went quickly and smoothly for you and you are all home together now! Can't wait to hear how Nicholas is doing with his baby sister at home...

SInce I am in the medical field, I will comment on the bluberry pancake. Our, OBF Dr. Freedman, who I call on for work is a great guy, as K. said he is a BRAIN. After the birth he insists that you look at and examine the "placenta". So for the second time we did. And he says, It looks like a bluberry pancke...

Doctors, what are ya gonna do....
